Advocate Duma Gideon Boko is a human rights lawyer and a politician, and the 6th President of Botswana sworn in on 1 November 2024. He is President of the Botswana National Front BNF since 2010 and led the creation of the Umbrella for Democratic Change UDC. He holds an LLB from the University of Botswana, an LLM from Harvard University as well as a Diploma in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the Lund University. Boko returned to teach law at the University of Botswana specialising in Constitutional law, whilst also running a law firm. During his student days at the University of Botswana he took over several leadership roles including being the Student Representative Council President. He has led The Law Society of Botswana, Botswana Network of Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) as a Chairperson.
